Julie Ertel is representing the U.S. on the 2008 Olympic Women's Triathlon Team. She won a silver medal in water polo at the 2000 Olympics. Julie graduated from the University of California – San Diego with a degree in economics and a minor in urban studies and Black American music. She went on to receive her masters in education, with an emphasis in physical education, from Azusa Pacific University in California. She teaches physical education courses at Orange Coast Community College and is the past coach of women's water polo at the University of California – Irvine.
